Application of improved technologies stressed to improve livestock production

Researchers and experts on Thursday laid importance on the increased use of technology to raise the livestock production all over the country.
They called for providing support services to the root farmers to gain increased livestock productivity, as the farmers have little or no idea about the merits and quality of the available breeding techniques.
They were addressing a daylong workshop on ‘awareness about modern animal breeding technology to stakeholder’ at Bangladesh Agricultural University.
In the keynote speech, Prof Dr Nasrin Sultana Juyena said that integration and using full benefit of the novel reproductive technologies in a cost effective, sustainable and society-friendly manner is the challenge for the animal researchers.
She asked the farmers to cooperate with the researchers in achieving successful field test and dissemination of their laboratory findings practically.
BAU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Ali Akbar addressed the programme as the chief guest while Sylhet Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Golam Shahi Alam was present as the guest of honor. Dean of veterinary science faculty Prof Dr Mahbub Mostofa, director of planning and development section of BAU Prof Dr Monoronjon Das and director (admin) of department of livestock services Dr AKM Nazrul Islam attended the event as special guest.
Faculty members, different officers of livestock services and dairy farmers attended the program organized by surgery and obstetrics department of BAU.
