Police submitted two charge sheets against BNP secretary-general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and 42 others on Tuesday in a case filed over political violence in the capital.
Sub-inspector Tabibur Rahman, also investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheets — one under the penal code and another under the Explosive Substance Act —- to Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
BNP leaders Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Mirza Abbas, Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah, Amanullah Aman and Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anny are also among the accused in the case.
On December 29, 2014, the case was filed with Paltan police station in the city on charges of carrying out violence in front of the BNP Nayapaltan office by exploding cocktails.
Jalal Ahmed, general recording officer (Paltan Thana) of Dhaka CMM court, said, “The two charge sheets would be placed before the court on Wednesday (today).”
