Long-haul bus fare cut by 3 paisa per km!

The government has reduced the fare of long-distance passenger buses by 3 paisa per kilometre across the country, excluding Dhaka and Chittagong metropolitan cities and their adjacent areas.
To this end, Road Transport and Bridges Ministry issued a circular, signed by Kamrul Ahsan, deputy secretary, Road Transport and Highways Division, on Tuesday.
The newly fixed bus fare will come into effect from May 15. From now on, commuters will have to pay Tk 1.42 instead of Tk 1.45 as fare for per kilometre bus journey.
On April 24, the government cut the prices of octane and petrol by Tk 10 a litre from Tk 99 and Tk 86 respectively.
Diesel and kerosene prices were also reduced by Tk 3 per litre from Tk 68.
Earlier, Bangladesh Road Transport Authority and bus owners proposed a reduction in long-route bus fares by 3 paisa per kilometre following a cut in petroleum prices.
