GAZIPUR: M Harun-or-Rashid, former Superintendent of Gazipur Police, earlier withdrawn following an Election Commission directive on April 21, has been reinstated to his post, reports UNB.
The Home Ministry has issued a notification of the withdrawal of its previous notice on Tuesday, said Mominul Islam, deputy inspector-2.
However, it is not clear yet when Harun-or-Rashid will join.
On April 21, the Election Commission had ordered the withdrawal of the police super and the officers-in-charge of two police stations of Gazipur district ahead of the third phase Union Parishad polls held in 20 UPs in the district.
Separate letters, singed by deputy secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat Shamsul Alam, were sent to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the senior secretary of the Home Ministry asking for removing SP M Harun-or-Rashid, Kapasia OC Mir Rakibul Haque and Sreepur OC M Asaduzzaman for the sake of fair polls.
