A fact-finding committee on Friday suggested to pick star player Sarfraz Ahmad as new T20 captain but the announcement can face delay.
The board has decided to not extend Head Coach Waqar Younis’ contract which is due to expire in May while Mohsin Hasan Khan as Chief Selector and Aaqib Javed as coach are likely to be appointed.
The committee, headed by Shakil Sheikh and members Iqbal Qasim and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief operating officer Subhan Ahmad, is all set to submit final report on Pakistan’s dismissal performance in World Twenty20 to PCB Chairman Shahryar Khan today.
Earlier, Afridi recorded his stance via telephone as he was unable to present before the investigating committee due to his daughter’s illness. The captain admitted poor performance in WT20.
“Players fully cooperated in WT20 while team meetings were not held without me”, said Afridi.
On the other hand, Waqar alleged that star batsman Mohammad Hafeez kept secret his injury before World Twenty20.
