Road repairing work opens in Rangpur

RANGPUR: Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu launched repairing works of two-kilometre long road from Khasbag Government Primary School to Jalil Mian's House in the city on Sunday afternoon.
The Mayor formally inaugurated the road repairing works by unveiling plaque at a ceremony arranged at Khasbag area as chief guest.
City Councilor (Ward No-30) Jahangir Alam Tota chaired the programme.
The RCC is implementing the road repairing works under construction packages of roads and drains in five groups at Tk 4.32 crore with financial assistance of the Municipal Governance Services Project (MGSP).
Executive Engineer of RCC Azam Ali, Vice-president of Rangpur District Shop Owners' Association Ali Hossain Mollah, Joint Secretary of City Shop Owners' Association Moazzem Hossain Mithu and hundreds of local people were present.
In his speech, the City Mayor directed the authorities concerned, officials and contractors for ensuring the best quality of all infrastructural construction works with maximum transparency and accountability.
"The traffic-jam situation would be improved significantly after completion of various ongoing infrastructural development works, including construction and repairing works of roads, in the city in near future," he said.
At the same time, the City Mayor sought cooperation of the citizens for turning Rangpur into one of the most beautiful, modern and eco- friendly cities in the region with excellent road communication networks and eye- catching looks.     — BSS
