The WorldFish today launched a new application for shrimp farmers to manage traceability in view to increase production as well as to bring transparency in shrimp marketing.
The “Aquaculture for Income and Nutrition (AIN)” project implemented by WorldFish and funded by US-AID initiated a pilot project with SourceTrace to introduce a new technology for shrimp farmers in the Southern part of Bangladesh, reports BSS.
The app, eServices Everywhere (ESE) of SourceTrace can process and analyze data from all aspects of shrimp farming to offer traceability details throughout the production process, from hatchery to harvest. This new app will transform the critical work of traceability for shrimp farmers and will make the process faster, easier and more efficient.
This pilot project will be conducted for 5 months, January-May 2016, and a total of 300-500 farmers will be connected to one collection centre.
