Jatiya Sangsad Chief Whip and Barguna-2 MP Nurul Islam Moni said on Sunday that the country would have a surplus of electricity next year.
He made the remark while addressing a meeting in the conference room of Betagi Upazila Parishad in Barguna.
Speaking about power plants and electricity bills, the chief whip said, “Hasina’s power plants are there, but there are no machines inside them. Hasina set up these power plants only to embezzle money. So, the government now has no way to reduce electricity bills.”
On communal harmony, he said no incidents of communal violence had taken place in the country over the past two years.
“No one in Bangladesh is a minority; everyone is a citizen of this country, and all have equal rights,” he added.
