Snigdha Chowdhury began her career in 2018 as a model, quickly making her presence felt in the fashion industry. Expanding her creative journey, Snigdha has now stepped into the film industry with her debut in “Pressure Cooker,” directed by Raihan Rafi. In a conversation with Anindita Naheen of the Daily Sun, the artiste shared her journey in the showbiz and beyond.
How do you feel about the success of your debut film?
I’m truly grateful for the love my debut film has received. Seeing my first work on the big screen appreciated by audience feels surreal. As a newcomer, I was nervous, but the support from the director and team made it easier. I’m happy people are noticing my work, yet I see this as just the beginning, with much to improve and explore ahead. I’m enjoying this moment with gratitude, but I’m also staying focused on my next projects.
What was the biggest challenge working on the film?
The biggest challenge was Raihan Rafi himself. He is very punctual and knows how to get the best out of the artistes. The hard work that Rafi and his team have put in behind me as a new artiste cannot be overstated. I’m grateful to them for that. Rafi does not compromise on work, which is a big learning opportunity for a new artiste. I rehearsed regularly in his office before the shooting started.
What were the most defining moments in your career?
Three and a half years ago, I was offered for a film titled “Rasta” opposite Siam Ahmed. I have also underwent acting training for six months for the movie. However, the movie directed by Raihan Rafi did not make it to the shooting floor in the end. A year and a half ago, Rafi told me the plot of the movie. At that time, I also gave an audition once. Later, when the final decision was made to make the movie, Eventually, I made my big screen debut with a different movie under the same director.
Can you share a memorable experience from the early days of your career?
My journey has been filled with many memorable experiences. I began my career in the showbiz industry in 2018 and have since worked with several brands and appeared on billboards. However, it has not been easy. Coming from a small, conservative family, living alone in Dhaka while pursuing media and continuing my studies was challenging. There were moments of struggle and uncertainty, but I never gave up. I’m deeply grateful to my mother for her constant support and strength.
Any upcoming projects are you working on?
I’m currently preparing myself for my next project and focusing more seriously on strengthening my skills. To improve my performance as an actor, I have even started taking acting classes. At this stage of my career, I’m fully concentrating on films. I want to explore more challenging roles and work in meaningful projects that allow me to grow as a performer. Along with films, I’m also open to working on OTT platforms if I receive good offers. Overall, I’m committed to learning, improving, and waiting for the right opportunities that will help shape my journey in the right direction.
How would you like to be remembered as an artiste?
I deeply admire Babita mam for her powerful screen presence and natural performances, which continue to inspire me. Internationally, Priyanka Chopra stands out for her versatility and confidence. I also dream of one day acting in a biopic based on my own life.
