Popular TVC maker Rana Masud set to step into filmmaking

Renowned TVC maker Rana Masud, who has directed over 500 commercials, is now preparing to step into feature filmmaking.

Masud has worked on advertisements for leading brands including Partex, Pran RFL Water Pump, Ruchi Chanachur, RC Cola, Danish Condensed Milk, Mutual Trust Bank, and Fresh Tea. Top artistes such as Nobel, Moushumi, Purnima, Bidya Sinha Mim, Ananta Jalil, Barsha, Kochi Khandaker, Faria Shehrin, Ahona, Nowshin, Emon, and Mehazabien have performed under his direction.

Besides TVCs, he has made several awareness documentaries and PSAs for UNICEF, UNDP, BCCP, BRAC, Plan Bangladesh, and SMC Blue Star. His short films “Nibas – The Residence” and “Ator” received critical acclaim, with “Ator” earning him Best Director at the Peace Film Festival 2023 and both Best Screenplay and Best Director awards at a Moroccan festival in 2022.

He also received award as best director at 11th Indo Bangla International Online Film Festival in 2025.

Recently appointed as a judge at the New York Bangla Film Festival, Masud is a member of the Bangladesh Short Film Forum, Bangladesh Theatre Artiste Association, and teaches at the Bangladesh Film Institute.

A former assistant to noted filmmaker Tanvir Mokammel, Masud worked on “Lal Salu”, “Lalon”, “Jibon Dhuli”, and “Rupsa Nodir Banke”.

“Filmmaking is now my main goal,” he said. “Cinema is the most powerful medium, and I want to begin with a meaningful story.”
