Bangladesh face a do-or-die showdown against the Philippines on Sunday, knowing only a victory will secure their place in the AFC U-17 Women’s Asian Cup 2027 in China. The Group H decider kicks off at 5:00pm Dhaka time. Bangladesh completed their final preparations at the Uzbekistan Football Academy Training Centre on Saturday, focusing on passing, positional play and finishing. The squad reported no injuries. Head coach AKM Saiful Bari Titu acknowledged the challenge but backed his players to deliver.
“The Philippines are a strong team, and their main advantage over us is their physicality and technical ability. But if we stick to our game plan, we can do something,” Titu said. The Philippines hold a superior goal difference after thrashing hosts Uzbekistan 4-0, meaning a draw will not be enough for Bangladesh.
“A draw is of no use to us, so we must try to get ahead,” Titu said. “However, our main priority is to avoid conceding early. We might not create many chances, so we must be clinical with the ones we get.” Titu also hopes the Philippines might underestimate his side after their contrasting results against Uzbekistan. “I am confident that if the girls play a perfect game, we have a chance. Football is football, and anything can happen,” he added.
