Rain accompanied by thunderstorms likely in Dhaka

The weather office has forecast rain accompanied by thunderstorms in Dhaka and surrounding areas today.

The forecast also stated that wind speeds may increase, with gusts reaching 30 to 40 kilometers per hour.

In addition, temporary gusty winds along with rain and thunderstorms have been predicted in various regions across the country.

According to a forecast issued by the Storm Warning Center of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Monday (May 18) for the six-hour period starting from 7:00am, the sky over Dhaka and nearby areas may remain partly cloudy to temporarily cloudy. Rain or thundershowers are likely during this period.

The forecast further said that winds may blow from the east and southeast at speeds of 10 to 15 kilometers per hour, while gusty winds could reach up to 30–40 kilometers per hour. The weather office also stated that daytime temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged.
