Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Abdus Salam
handed over two mosquito-repellent fogger machines to the residential students
of Bangladesh-Kuwait Maitree Hall and Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall at Dhaka
University on Tuesday.
The initiative was aimed at protecting student health and
preventing mosquito-borne diseases.
Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) Dhaka University
branch, co-organised the distribution ceremony at 4pm on the university campus.
Speaking at the function, Chhatra Dal leaders stated that
residential students face severe suffering due to recent waterlogging and
heightened mosquito infestation across the campus. They emphasised that
effective preventive measures have become crucial during the monsoon season to
mitigate the risk of diseases such as dengue.
Addressing the students, Abdus Salam announced comprehensive
plans to resolve long-standing waterlogging issues in the residential halls and
surrounding areas permanently.
"A permanent end to this problem is possible not only
through immediate initiatives, but also through sustainable infrastructural
solutions," Salam said.
He also called for patience, mutual cooperation, and
national unity in tackling natural, social, and political public challenges,
urging everyone to support national development under the leadership of Prime
Minister Tarique Rahman.
To support environmental development and greening efforts on
campus, Salam announced that the city corporation will gift 500 saplings to the
Dhaka University branch of Chhatra Dal to encourage tree plantation programmes
among students.

Roy Sahas, General Secretary Nahiduzzaman Shipon, Senior Joint General
Secretary Md Nasir Uddin Shaon, leaders from the two hall units, hall provosts,
