Detectives suspected that the outlawed militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) or other organisation under its umbrella was involved in the killing of publisher Faisal Arefin Dipan and attacks on another publisher and two writers.
Joint Commissioner (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Monirul Islam said that both the incidents were planned, and ABT or other militant outfits under its umbrella were behind the two incidents, reports UNB.
Talking to reporters at his office on Sunday afternoon, he said it is not easy to foil targeted killing or targeted attack. It needs specialised or dedicated team to prevent such attacks.
“However, we’re trying to do our level best with minimum equipment and manpower to prevent the recurrence of such incidents,” the DB Joint Commissioner said voicing a not of optimism that the killers and attackers will be arrested soon.
He urged the publishers to inform law enforcers if they receive any threat. “Security measures have been taken for those publishers who informed us about threats. We’re trying to provide them security after analysing the nature of the threats.”
