ISSF Archery tourney starts Feb 23

Third ISSF (Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation) International Solidarity World Ranking Archery Championship 2019 is all set to commence from February 23 and go till February 26.

During a press briefing at National Sports Council (NSC) in the capital on Wednesday, Bangladesh Archery Federation (BAF) President Lt Gen Md Mainul Islam (retd) and General Secretary Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapol revealed the information to reporters.

The tournament will take place in Shahid Ahsan Ullah Master Stadium in Tongi. It is set to be the third iteration of the tournament in Bangladesh. Archers from 26 nations are set to participate in the tournament.

Bangladesh Archery Federation is organising the tournament in association with Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation.

Archers will compete in a total of ten events in two divisions Recurve and Compound. A total of 118 archers will participate in the tournament along with 48 officials.

Albenia, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Chad, Iran, Iraq, Germany, Kyrgyzstan, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Nepal, Morocco, Tajikistan, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, UAE, Malawi and hosts Bangladesh.

In the first ISSF Championship in Dhaka, with the participation of 14 countries, Bangladesh earned six gold medals, but this time they are looking for more golds while defending the previous medals.
