BENAPOLE: Around fifty reared ducks died, falling prey to ‘poison traps’ set allegedly by a rival of the birds’ owner at a paddy field in Tangramari Bazar area under Monirampur Upazila of Jashore district on Friday.

While walking in the field, the ducks died after taking food mixed with poison, said Nuruzaman, owner of the ducks.

A neighbour Md Hanif has killed the ducks to cause harm to me due to previous enmity. How will I continue duck rearing business if such incidents occur? said Nuruzaman.

Local UP member Tajuddin said Hanif applied poison s without notice surrounding the area of his field.

Before the poisoning of the field Hanif should announced to the nearby poultry owners.
