School banking stressed to create savings habit

RANGPUR: Bankers have stressed on strengthening of the School Banking System to inspire school students in creating savings habit to ultimately help them in ensuring financial security in future, reports BSS.

The bankers said this at the post-rally school banking conference- 2019 organised by Rupali Bank Limited (RBL) at Zila Parishad auditorium in Lalmonirhat district town on Saturday, RBL officials said on Sunday.

Earlier, a huge colourful rally with participation of hundreds of school students and officials of all commercial banks of Lalmonirhat district paraded the streets and gathered at Zila Parishad auditorium to participate in the conference.

The main objective of the conference was to properly run school banking activities, opening bank accounts at Taka 10 for each student for their involvement with banking activities and enhancing financial education since childhood.

Deputy Commissioner of Lalmonirhat Mohammad Shafiul Arif attended the conference as the chief guest with Rangpur Zonal Manager and Deputy General Manager of RBL Md. Shariful Islam in the chair. Joint Director of Rangpur Branch of Bangladesh Bank Md. Lutfar Rahman and freedom fighter SM Shafikul Islam Kanu addressed the conference as special guests.

A number of participating school students appreciated the initiative of launching the school banking system for them under the financial inclusion programme of Bangladesh bank by the present government.
