CHATTOGRAM: A former student of Chittagong University (CU) and mother of a journalist died in Cox’s Bazar district and in the port city on Friday.

The CU former student Redowan Mustafa, 27, son of Md Abul Kalam, breathed his last at his village house in Dakkhin Japua Boro Pukur Parra under Maheshkhali upazila in Cox’s Bazar around 2:00 pm on Friday.

Redowan, a former student of Communication and Journalism Department of the CU, had been suffering from colon cancer for long.

Redowan will be buried at their family graveyard in the Dakkhin Japua Boro Pukur Parra after his namaz-e-janaza on the premises of Dakkhin Japua Dakhil Madrasha at 9:30am on Saturday.

On the other hand, Padma Rani Mallick, 80, mother of Chattogram Journalists’ Co-operative Housing Society Chairman Swapan Kumar Mallick, died at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) around 10:00am. 

Padma Rani, who had been suffering from cardiac problem, was cremated at a crematory at her village house at Chhanhara union under Patiya upazila in the district on Friday evening.

Chattogram Press Club President Kalim Sarwar and General Secretary expressed grave shock at the sad demise of the journalist’s mother and conveyed to the bereaved family.
