Sheikh Jamal Cricket Academy’s picnic and get-together was held at Lt Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd premises in the capital on Friday.

Bashundhara Group Vice-chairman and Lt Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd President Safwan Sobhan Tasvir presided over the meet. Later in the day, he also distributed prizes among young cricketers. 

Lt Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd Secretary Foyezur Rahman, Governing Committee Chairman Monzur Kader, Directors Nazib Ahmed, Mir Mohammad Zakir Hossain Shopon, Sheikh Iqbal Khokon and Football Committee Chairman Ashraf Uddin Ahmed Chunnu were also present on the occasion along with club officials, football and cricket players.

Lt Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd President Safwan Sobhan Tasvir was elated to be among the future stars of the nation as he reiterated his commitment for the development of sports in the nation.

“I am very happy to be present in a gathering with the future stars of the nation. I am a lover of sports. This gives me the opportunity to give something back to the society. Being a boy from Dhanmondi, I have a special place in my heart for the people here. I am very happy to be able to contribute back to the society,” said Lt Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd President Safwan Sobhan Tasvir.

During a pep talk with Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd football players, he also mentioned the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League derby between Sheikh Jamal and Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra scheduled to held at Bangabandhu National Stadium in the capital on Sunday. He boosted the morale of players by inspiring them to give it their all in the upcoming match.

“I know we have a game coming up with Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra. Both the clubs are part of the same family as both Sheikh Jamal and Sheikh Russel were part of the Sheikh family and my brother (Sayem Sobhan Anvir) runs Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra while I run Lt Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd.  Nevertheless, sport is sport and there’s no compromise. You guys gotta win and make us proud,” added Safwan Sobhan.

Lt Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd Governing Committee Chairman Monzur Kader expressed his gratitude to Safwan Sobhan Tasvir for being part of the event.

“It really pleases me when I see so many youngsters in front of me who will one day be the Gavaskar and Ganguly of Bangladesh. All of us are part of Sheikh Jamal family. I am honoured that our respected President Safwan Sobhan was able to spare some time for us from his busy schedule. I truly am humbled by this gesture. Our goal is to guide our youngsters to a bright future and make sure we provide them the optimal surroundings so that they can fight the dark grasps of drug abusers,” concluded Manzur.
