Curtain Falls On 8th Dheki 
International Motion Picture Fest

The 8th edition of ‘Dheki International Motion Picture Festival 2019’ was inaugurated by Md. Mahbub Ali MP, Honorable State Minister, Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism with Dr. Seyed Mahdi Hosseini, Cultural Counselor, Embassy of I.R. Iran and Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar, President, Bangladesh Film Director Association, in attendance on February 12, 2019 at Shawkat Osman Hall, Central Public Library, Dhaka. Md. Imdadul Haque Khokon, director of the festival, presided over the ceremony while Mohammad Nizam Uddin, founder organizer of the fest, delivered the welcome speech.

“Chobi Kotha Bole” (picture speaks) was the theme of this fest where 30 films from 12 countries were screened. Apocopes, a film by Al Hasan Rakib, was awarded the ‘Golden Dheki Award’ along with a prize money of 100 USD. “A day begins with a new consciousness. Another day through another life is also a destiny. People don't know when, where, how and what is going to happen! Life is a circle. This is what I have portrayed in my film”, said Al Hasan Rakib about his film ‘Apocopes’.

The participating countries were Bangladesh, India, Iran, Australia, Japan, China, Russia, France, Germany, United Kingdom, US and Canada.
