Around 100 leaders and activists of Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), the student wing of BNP, on Wednesday returned to Dhaka University’s Madhu’s canteen, which is widely considered as the breeding ground of politics, after nine years ahead of the much awaited Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) polls scheduled for March 11.

The leaders and activists of BNP’s student front assembled at thecanteen at around 10:45 am led by it’s central and DU unit’s president and secretary.

In the meantime, ruling Awami League-backed Chhatra League and other left student bodies also took position in and around the canteen and chanted slogans.

While addressing a press conference in DU campus, JCD central unit president Rajib Ahsan placed their seven-point demands, including that for announcing a fresh schedule for Ducsu polls and co-existence of all active student bodies on the campus.

Their other demands include allowing their organisational activities, setting up of polling centres in the academic building instead of halls, and bringing a change in the eligibility criteria of candidates by setting a specific academic session instead of fixing the age limit of 30 and ensuring the security of their candidates during election campaigns.
