Law Minister Anisul Huq on Saturday highlighted the urgency for ensuring quality education for all to attain social and sustainable economic developments.
“The government and private organizations will have to work together to ensure equitable access to quality education to all citizens,” said the minister while addressing a stipend distribution programme in Dhaka yesterday.The Dutch-Bangla Bank Ltd organized the programme for distributing stipend to poor and meritorious students at Mirpur Indoor Stadium in the capital.
“It is quite difficult for the government to ensure quality education without contribution of private organizations to this end. The government has already done a great deal of promoting and ensuring education for all,” said the minister.
He called for a concerted effort by all to ensure quality education and urged all including the social organizations to come forward to help and assist the government.
Present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has set various development targets and plan to transform Bangladesh into a developed country by 2041, he said adding “Quality education for all is needed to achieve the target.”
The government has laid emphasis on education to create skilled and competitive manpower to face global challenges, he said.
Distribution of textbooks among primary and secondary level students and stipends to girl students are among the schemes undertaken by the government to ensure education especially among the poor, he added.
