BAGERHAT: Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company (Pvt) Limited (BIFPCL) distributed about 3000 blankets in Rampal and Mongla upazila of Bagerhat district. Under its community development initiatives, the company distributed these blankets to the poor villagers in the vicinity of the project site. Distribution programs were organized at the Rajnagar, Gouramva, Hurka and Burirdanga union parishad premises on Monday.
Talukder Abdul Khaleque, Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) distributed the blankets as chief guest while SC Pandey, Project Director of Maitree Super Thermal Power Project (MSTPP), Rampal presided over the function. Md Rezaul Karim, Deputy Project Director, MSTPP, Rampal, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tushar Kumar Paul, former general secretary of Khulna Press Club Mallick Sudhangshu and other invited guests attended the programs. Tariqul Islam, deputy manager of Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company conducted the event.It may be mentioned that in last week, the company had distributed 76 water filters to schools and colleges of Rampal along with 35 wheel chairs to physically challenged people of the nearby villages of the project site. A free medical camp was also organised where local residents were given free medical advice and medicines.
Moreover, BIFPCL is implementing various community development activities in the vicinity of project site in Rampal. Free health services, skill development and support to local educational institutions and students and traditional cultural programs for the local community are such initiatives of the company.
