CU student’s hanging body recovered

CHATTOGRAM: Police recovered hanging body of a student of Chittagong University (CU) from a rented-cottage beside the university campus on Thursday.

The deceased identified as Jahangir Alam Raju, 21, was fourth year student of Economics department of the university.

Sources said Raju had been living at a tin-roofed rented-cottage ‘Atim Ali Cottage, beside the Suhrawardy Hall of the university.

The friends of Raju found his room locked from inside in the morning.

At one stage, they noticed the body hanging from ceiling and informed the university authority of the matter.

Later, they called in police who recovered the body breaking the door open.

The body was sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, said CU Proctor Ali Asgar Chowdhury.

The student might have committed suicide. But, cause behind his suicide could not be ascertained, added the proctor.
