BCB XI’s openers Shadman Islam and Soumya Sarkar notched superb half-centuries on day two against tourists West Indies cricket team as the two-day warm-up match between BCB XI and West Indies ended in a draw at MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong on Monday.
The hosts put on 235 for five in the second day after West Indies finished their first innings at 303 for seven declared.Openers Shadman and Soumya continued their fine form. Shadman scored 73 from 168 balls before run out while Soumya who grabbed a Test nod after one year, struck 78 of 103 balls as they duo kept visitors’ bowlers at bay and added 126 for the first wicket.
Shadman kept his patient and hit 10 fours and a six but Soumya led the charge hitting 10 fours and three monster sixes in his 103-ball knock.
Both Shadman and Soumya handled Caribbean quick innings nicely as West Indies’ pacers were wicketless till mid-session.
The tourists fought back in the middle session as their bowlers picked up five wickets.
Liton Das and Nazmul Hasan Shanto who recently excluded from Test tea, continued their failure in red ball cricket.
Shanto managed 21 before he was castled by pacer Kemar Roach while Liton failed to make any score. He was bowled out by Gabriel.Caribbean paceman Shannon picked up two wickets in the final session. Left arm spinner Jomel Warrican and Kemar Roach bagged one wicket each.
Earlier, West Indies posted 303 for seven at stumps on the opening day, relaying on opener Kieran Powell 72 and Shai Hope’s 88.
The first Test match of the two-match Test series between Bangladesh and West Indies is scheduled to start from November 22.
