Lt Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd were shocked by a raging Dhaka Abahani Ltd to 4-2 goal defeat in the semi-final of Bangladesh Federation Cup 2018 at Bangabandhu National Stadium in the capital on Monday.

With this sensational win Abahani confirmed their spot in the final of the premiere tournament.  Abahani prized recruit Sunday Chizoba fired a hat-trick to seal the deal for Abhani.

They will take on the winners of the second semi-final of the tournament scheduled to be held between Bashundhara Kings and Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra at the same venue today.

On Monday, Abahani took the charge early on in the match with some blistering attacks as their foreign recruit Sunday Chizoba took the game to Sheikh Jamal defence.

On the 13th minute of the match, Dhaka Abahani nearly broke the deadlock as their Haitian recruit Kervens Belfort backpassed the ball to Chizoba who could not give the direction to the ball.

In their reply, Sheikh Jamal also started to catch up with Abahani attacks. Sheikh Jamal forward Solomon King Kanform sneaked through right wing to fire a bulleting cross only to be cleared by Abhani defence.

Kanform carried on with his attempts, he swung a beauty of a ball from a free-kick on the 28th minute but was gloved to perfection by Abahani goalie Shahidul Alam.

The start of the match, Sunday missed an cake of an opportunity on the 33rd minute, as Sunday blasted the star-bound shot failing to utilise a goal-line chaos at Jamal box.

Sheikh Jamal also had their fair share of opportunities as Jamal Argentine forward Luciano Emanuel took a right-footed shot at Abahani post was barely fisted away by goalie Shahidul.

In the final moments of the first-half, the audience were availed a brilliant show of goal-keeping from Shahidul as he flung to his right save a header from Jamal defender Shawkat Russel.

A minute was added to the regulation time in first half.

Abahani defender Topu Barman slide tackeled Sheikh Jamal foreign recruit Sainey Bojang on the added minute to deny Sheikh Jamal the lead.

In the 52nd minute, Abahani Korean recruit Minhyeok Ko recieved a pass deep in danger zone. He switched to right wing and forwarded the ball to Belfort who could not penetrate the nets.

Jamal forward Sainey Bojang sprinted past Abahani defence on the 55th minute but missed a 1:1 with Shahidul.

Finally, Abahani managed to take the lead on the 56th minute courtesy of a shuttering goal from Abahani’s Afghan recruit Masih Saighani.  Saighani utilised a failed clearing attempt by Sheikh Jamal defence to tap the ball past Jamal goalie Nayeem.

Abahani doubled their lead on the 64th minute with a penalty from Sunday Chizoba.

But Sheikh Jamal came roaring back into the match in the 79th minute courtesy of breathtaking right footer from Sheikh Jamal midfielder Didarul Alam.

Just when it looked Sheikh Jamal will be taking the driving seat of the encounter, Abhani struck back with a Waly Faisal free-kick which spawned a beautiful goal from  Sunday Chizoba through a header on the 81st minute.

The fighter Didarul Alam brought Sheikh Jamal back into the contest on the 84th minute with his second goal of the match utilising a goal-line chaos.

Sunday sealed the fate of the match on the 86th minute as he completed his hat-trick a stunning goal to upset Sheikh Jamal.
