Jamaat leader arrested in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM: Police arrested a ward Jamaat leader in a case filed for carrying out subversive activities from the city’s Bakolia area on Saturday morning.

The arrestee identified as Md Imam Hossain, 45, son of late Keramat Ali Foraji of Bhola district, is vice president of the Jamaat Purba Bakolia ward unit. Officer-in-Charge (OC) Pranab Chowdhury of Bakolia Police Station said on receiving information, they arrested Imam from the Old Police Station area.

Later, some books on extremism, leaflets, banners and organisational documents were recovered from his house, said the OC.

The arrestee is accused of three cases filed for subversive activities earlier, he said.
