On the background of the influx of Rohingya refugees from August 2017, the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) has increased the Country Programme with an additional DKK 83 million (equivalent to Tk 106 crore) to support the crisis and address the adverse implications of the crisis on the refugee hosting communities in Cox’s Bazar.

This additional contribution brings the total budget of the Bangladesh Country Programme to DKK 698 million with Danish contribution of DKK 418 million (Tk 532 crore), said a press release.  Consequently, an amendment to the Government-to-Government agreement was signed on Thursday.

Sultana Afroz, Additional Secretary, Economic Relations Division, and Winnie Estrup Petersen, Danish Ambassador to Bangladesh, signed the amendment to the agreement for the respective governments.

The Government of the Kingdom of Denmark and the Government of Bangladesh have enjoyed more than 40 years of development cooperation. It has been adjusted over the years to maintain the relevance and responsiveness to the challenges faced by Bangladesh.
