BNP has planned to hold a public rally in the capital on Thursday to press home their demands, including formation of neutral election-time government for holding the upcoming national election and release of party chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail.
BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the plan at a press conference at party central office in Nayapaltan of the capital on Monday.BNP has already sent letters to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Public Works Department (PWD) and City Corporation, Rizvi said, adding that they have already completed their preparations for holding the rally at Suhrawardy Udyan or in front of its headquarters.
Rizvi said that they will announce their next course of action during the rally.
Meanwhile, speaking at a discussion at the National Press Club on Monday, BNP senior leader Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain asked the ruling Awami League to meet their five-point demand.
Their demands include resignation of the government, dissolution of parliament before the announcement of the election schedule, reconstitution of the Election Commission, cancellation of the EVM system and deployment of army during the national election.
