ACC to submit charge sheet against Siraj

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is going to submit a charge sheet against former jute and textiles minister Shajahan Siraj in a case filed on charges of embezzling Tk 1.98 crore through selling a government land at lower prices.

ACC sources said ACC deputy director Farid Uddin Ahmed Patwary, also investigation officer of the case, will submit a charge sheet before a court soon.

The former minister and proprietor of Kishoreganj Papers House Md Awalad Hossain is going to be accused in the graft case.

On November 2, 2016, ACC filed a case with Shahbagh Police Station accusing Shajahan Siraj in and Md Awalad Hossain on charges of selling government land at lower prices.

According to the case statement, the accused in collusion with each other embezzled Tk 1.98 crore by selling a land of Bangladesh Jute Corporation at lower prices instead of actual prices.
