BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Thursday reiterated their demand for resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the ‘sake of a free, fair and acceptable parliamentary election’.
“The Prime Minister’s statement that she will cooperate with the Election Commission for holding a fair election is ridiculous. She herself is the main obstacle to holding a fair election,” he said. The BNP leader came up with the statements at a press conference at its central office in Nayapaltan of the capital.
Rizvi alleged that law enforcement agencies have become desperate in ‘suppressing BNP in a bid to keep the next general election in favour of the government while the ruling party men are continuously sponsoring the law enforcers to be reckless in order to stay in power’.
He further alleged that ‘false’ cases have been filed against many of the BNP leaders and activists. “I on behalf of the party demand immediate withdrawal of the cases,” he said. He said they heard that the ruling party would ‘commit acts of sabotage’ in the coming days and would ‘shift the blame onto BNP’.
“Various types of sabotage including exploding bombs and arson attacks might be committed in a planned way and BNP leaders and activists might be implicated,” Rizvi said.
