4 killed in Cox’s Bazar road crash

At least four people were killed and four others injured, as a covered van hit a battery-run auto-rickshaw, locally known as easy bikes, on Cox’s Bazar-Chattogram highway near Inani Resort in Chakaria Upazila on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Abu Taher, 50, Taj Uddin, 24, Yusuf Mia, 37, and Hasina Begum, 30.

Mizanur Rahman, in charge of Harbang Police Outpost, said a Cox’s Bazar-bound covered van of ‘Ranbow Paribahan’ rammed the easy bike in front Harbang Inani Resort around 10:00 am, leaving two of its passengers dead on the spot.

The injured were rushed to Chakaria Upazila Health Complex. Later, two other victims succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

Three of the injured who are in critical condition were shifted to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital.
