‘Uniformed policy to recruit teachers at public varsities’

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Wednesday said a uniformed policy will be formulated for appointing teachers and their promotion at the public universities across the country.

All the universities will appoint teachers following a uniform policy, he said while addressing a workshop held at the conference room of the University Grants Commission (UGC) office in the capital.

The UGC organized the event on ‘Uniform Guidelines for Recruitment and Promotion/Upgradation of Public University Teachers’.

Nahid said the uniform policy for the public university teachers will be finalized following the opinions of the experts in this matter.

Secondary and higher education division additional secretary Abdullah Al Hasan Chowdhury of the education ministry presided over the workshop while UGC chairman Prof Abdul Mannan, University Teachers Association Federation President ASM Maksud Kamal and UGC member Prof Akhtar Hossain spoke, among others.

Vice-chancellors of different Public universities were present at the workshop and they shared their opinions regarding the policy.
