Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Harsh Vardhan Shringla on Wednesday said his country will not make any comment on the upcoming general elections of Bangladesh.
It is an internal matter of Bangladesh and India will maintain this stance over the issue, said the envoy.The Indian envoy was talking to reporters at the Foreign Ministry after holding a meeting with Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque on Wednesday afternoon.
He said that the 4th Bimstec Summit was very successful as a number of important decisions were taken at the summit for regional development and cooperation.
Shringla went on saying that both the premiers, Sheikh Hasina and Narendra Modi, consider Bimstec as a very important regional group as it represents aspirations of people in the region.
The Bimstec leaders reiterated their commitments to take it forward and strengthen Bimstec in terms finance, resources, commitment, and the action points that have to be followed.
Shringla said they spoke about some of the projects they are doing which are part of their development partnership during the meeting with the foreign secretary.
One of the projects is transferring additional 500 megawatts of electricity, he said adding that there will be a number of events on connectivity and energy sector in the coming days.He also said high-level visits between two friendly countries will also continue in the coming days.
