The draw ceremony of the forthcoming Bangabandhu Gold Cup-2018 took place on Saturday at a hotel in the capital. Hosts Bangladesh will compete against Philippine and Laos in group B.
The Bangabandhu Gold Cup is scheduled to be held from October 1 to 12 in Bangladesh followed by the SAFF Championship. Bangabandhu National Stadium and Sylhet District Stadium will host the Gold Cup.Six nations splitting into two groups will compete in the 12-day meet.
Palestine, Nepal and Tajikistan were drawn in group A while the rest Bangladesh, Laos and Philippine pitted in group B.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr Sri Biren Sikder attended the draw ceremony as the chief guest. Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Youth and Sports Ministry Zahid Ahsan Russell MP alongside Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) President Kazi Salahuddin, Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports Arif Khan Joy, Head of the Palestinian Mission in Dhaka Yousef SY Ramadan, Minister-Counselor of Embassy of Nepal in Dhaka Dhan Bahadur Oli, BFF Senior Vice-President Abdus Salam Murshedy and other BFF officials and members were present on the occasion.
