Japanese marathon runner clinches gold

Japanese runner Hiroto Inoue won a gold medal in the 2018 Asian Games marathon race in Jakarta on Saturday, reports Asiangames2018.id.

Inoue finished in first place at Bung Karno Main Stadium with a time of 2 hours, 18 minutes and 22 seconds. Bahraini runner Elhassan Elabbasi had to settle for silver with a very small time gap. Chinese athlete Buji Duo won bronze after finishing in 2 hours, 18 minutes and 48 seconds.

Twenty-one male runners from 13 countries competed for the gold medal in the marathon (42.195 kilometers). The 21 runners were respectively from Bahrain, China, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, South Korea, Mongolia, Nepal, North Korea, Thailand and Uzbekistan.
