The assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has tainted the image of the country abroad, said Vice-Chancellor of International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC) Prof KM Golam Mohiuddin on Wednesday.

The IIUC VC was speaking at a commemorative programme as the chief guest on the occasion of the National Mourning Day at the university auditorium.

He said Bangabandhu was a victim of international conspiracy which was intended to make the country leaderless, as Bangabandhu was a gallant leader.

Bangabandhu was struggling to eradicate corruptions from the country to make it ‘Golden Bangla’ with the establishment of democracy, he said.

The IIUC VC said the charismatic leadership of Bangabandhu brought independence to Bangladesh and that his name is synonymous with Bangladesh.

With Pro-VC of the university Prof Dr Mohammad Ali Azadi in the chair, treasurer Prof Dr Abdul Hamid Chowdhury, Prof Dr Md Delawer Hossain, Prof Dr Nazmul Haque Nadwi, Dr. Muhammad Mahbubur Rahman and registrar Mohammad Kashem also spoke on the occasion.
