A Dhaka court on Friday placed Faria Mahjabin, a coffee shop owner, on a three-day remand in a case filed over spreading rumour on social networking site Facebook to instigate the recent students’ movement for road safety.

Metropolitan Magistrate AKM Moinuddin Siddiqui passed the order after Sub-Inspector Majedur Rahman, also investigation officer of the case, produced her before the court with seven-day remand petition.

She had no lawyer to represent her during the court proceedings.

Earlier, Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) on Thursday night arrested the woman from the city’s Dhanmondi area for instigating people during the students’ movement through uploading provocative audio clips, posting status and false photos.
