StrayBird celebrates 13th anniv

StrayBird, a literary and cultural forum of the Department of English, Stamford University Bangladesh, celebrated its 13th anniversary by staging a drama titled A Celebration of Women written by Professor Niaz Zaman (retired professor of English, University of Dhaka) at the auditorium of Siddeswari Campus on 30 July, 2018.

Dr Niaz Zaman - Bangladeshi academic, writer, translator and editor - was present in the event as the Chief Guest. Prof. Mohammad Ali Naqi, the honourable Vice Chancellor of Stamford University Bangladesh, inaugurated the programme.

The students of English Department staged a drama where they played the role of different female characters taken from Greek and classical literature as well as modern literature.

A magical environment was created by the superb composition of performance, background music and light. The performers (students of English Department) received huge appreciation with applause from the audience.

The presence of students from different departments, faculty members and non-academic staff made the environment more lively and enjoyable. However, the drama was directed by Ms Zakia Noor Matin, assistant professor of English at Stamford University Bangladesh.
