JAMALPUR: National Fisheries week began here on Wednesday with a view to increase fish production, reports BSS.
District Fisheries Officer (In-charge) Momotazunnesa inaugurated the week through a press conference at her office and informed the newsmen about the different aspects of the programme.She said the government implemented various development programmes included setting up Beel nursery in open water bodies, imparting training to fish cultivators and extension of fish cultivation technology to increase fish production.
The officer said fishermen in the district after registration got identity cards for involving them in various support programmes. Fish Seed Multiplication Farm Manager Kabir Uddin Ahmed and Extension Officer Sharmin Akhtar also spoke at the press conference. The fisheries week will conclude on July 24.
