Three BCL men suspended over beating DU students

Dhaka university authorities on Sunday suspended three students, and also activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of DU unit, on charges of beat up two students of the university on Saturday night.

The three students are Sifatullah, a student of Department of Women and Gender Studies, Mohammad Al Imran of Institute of Education and Research, Mahmudur Rahman of Institute of Modern Languages. They are first year students of the university.

Confirming about suspend of the students, DU Proctor Prof AKM Golam Rabbani said they took the decision after examining the media report, statement of the victims and CCTV footage of the university.

A probe body will give report by three days, then, the final decision will be taken against them, he said.

Earlier, members of BCL allegedly beat up the two students of Dhaka University at the campus on Saturday night.

Eyewitness said a group of 10 to 12 youths wanted to know their identification when the two classmates, holding hands, were standing at Mall Chattar to get a rickshaw.
