Bongo, the leading digital entertainment provider of the country, has recently reached the milestone of 1 million subscribers on their YouTube channel ‘BongoBD’, reports UNB.
In recognition of this unique accomplishment, YouTube has awarded Bongo with the ‘Golden Play Button’, making them the first Bangladeshi channel to receive the honour, says a press release on Tuesday afternoon.The award was accompanied by a personal note from YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki who praised Bongo for being “bigger than Las Vegas”. The company also gained recognition from across the media industry for their role in promoting Bangladeshi video content at home and abroad, the press release added.
Ahad Mohammad, Managing Director of Bongo said “Being the first in Bangladesh to receive the Golden Play button from YouTube makes us very proud and inspires us to continue our work in promoting Bangladeshi content around the globe.”
He also added “Over the years we have built a certain expertise on growing an online audience, monetization and copyright enforcement on YouTube. Now we want to use this knowledge to benefit all our local content creators.”
