Veteran director Martin Scorsese will be conferred with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Rome Film Festival.
The announcement was made by director Antonio Monda and Laura Delli Colli, the head of the Fondazione Cinema per Roma, the festival organisers said in a statement. Italian director Paolo Taviani will present the award to Scorsese, who is best known for modern American classics such as Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, The Aviator and The Departed.Martin Scorsese is an American director, producer, screenwriter, actor and film historian. Scorsese’s body of work addresses themes as Sicilian-American identity, Roman Catholic concepts of guilt and redemption, faith, machismo, modern crime and gang conflict. Many of his films are also known for their depiction of violence and liberal use of profanity. Part of the New Hollywood wave of filmmaking, he is widely regarded as one of the most significant and influential filmmakers in cinematic history. —IANS
