Juba League man hacked to death

CHATTOGRAM: A Juba League activist was stabbed to death allegedly by his rival group centring a trifling matter in the city’s Chatteshawari Morr area on Sunday night.

The deceased identified as Md Anik, 26, was son of Md Nasir of the area, and an activist of Bagmoniram Ward Juba League. He was also a driver by profession.

Sources said Aanik and another Juba League activist Mohiuddin Tushar had an enmity over establishing supremacy in the area for long.

Tushar locked in an altercation with Aanik over playing of horn of the latter’s motorbike while he was returning to residence on Sunday afternoon.

Later, the dispute was settled following intervention of local seniors immediately after the incident.

But, a gang of 10 to 12 youths led by Tushar allegedly swooped on Anik when he went to Chatteshawari Morr after coming out of residence at around 8:00pm.

The miscreants stabbed Aanik with sharp weapons indiscriminately leaving him injured critically, the sources said. He was rushed to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) where on-duty physicians declared him dead.
