Offices resume after Eid holidays

All government, semi-government and private offices, including banks and financial institutions, resumed on Monday after a three-day Eid holiday.

Attendance at the government offices was thin as many officials and employees took  a day off on Monday as well.

The officials and employees exchanged Eid greetings with their colleagues amid a festive mood.

Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, and Information Minister Hasanul Huq Inu exchanged Eid greetings with their colleagues at their secretariat offices on Monday morning.

The capital Dhaka was mostly empty with a majority of city dwellers staying at their respective native villages to enjoy the Eid with family.

Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the biggest religious festivals of the Muslims, was celebrated in the country amid much enthusiasm and religious fervour on Saturday.

The Eid holidays started from June 15 and continued till June 17 while the government officers and employees enjoyed their vacation from June 13.
