Road crashes kill six in 3 districts

At least six people were killed and many others were injured in road accidents in Tangail, Mymensingh, and Jamalpur on Wednesday.

In Mymensingh, two people were killed when a truck hit four stationed human haulers at Bypass intersection in the city on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Saiful Islam, 40, a police constable, and Abul Hashem, 25.

Atiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Model Police Station, said the accident took place around 7 am when a truck hit four stationary human haulers in the area, leaving nine people injured.

The injured were taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where two of them died.

In Tangail, pedestrian Lal Miah of Tarai village of the sadar upazila was crushed under a pick-up in Bhuyanpur Upazila of the district, Abdus Salam, officer-in-charge of Bhuyanpur Police Station said.

Besides, an unidentified man, aged around 40, was killed in a train accident in the upazila in the morning.

In Jamalpur, at least two persons were killed and five others were hurt in a head-on collision between a truck and a CNG auto-rickshaw in Sonkanday area on Jamalpur-Mymensingh highway.

The deceased were identified as Mosharraf Hossain, 42, a resident of Munshipara area of Jamalpur town and an unidentified eight-year-old child.

The injured could not be identified immediately, Nasimul Islam, OC of Jamalpur Sadar Police Station, said.
