Pleasant Eid for street children

Oder Jonno Eider Jama’ is an event arranged by the students of East West University. Through this programme they provide new clothes and iftar to underprivileged children of Aftabnagar area. After four successful events in last four years, this year they arranged this event titled ‘Oder Jonno Jama- 5’.

Eid means happiness. We can realise its significance by sharing joy with others, especially the underprivileged ones.

The street children are neglect and we need to do something for them. With this urge some general students of East West University arranged this event named ‘Oder Jonno Eider Jama’ to do something for them.

‘Oder Jonno Eider Jama’ was first started in 2014. There are many slums at Aftabnagar area which means there are many underprivileged children. A lot of children get the Eid dress thanks to this programme. In 2014, they distributed clothes among only 92 children. Last year the number of beneficiary children increased to 242.

Like every year students from different departments take this initiative on the eve of the holy Eid-Ul-Fitor, the biggest religious festival of the Muslims. Organiser and volunteers make all the arrangements to make the event successful. The volunteers with enthusiastic effort collect fund from their own university students and from the other voluntary donor.

They buy new clothes for underprivileged children by using that fund. Two days before the event they provide token to all children according to their age and size. On the event day they distribute clothes among all the children. This year the event took place on June 10. It is a non-profitable social service which creates happiness among others. Creating happiness among others can bring joy in our own lives. All of us should do something like this for underprivileged people which can remove the inequality in our society.
