Besides, football fans have started to buy smart and other televisions to watch games.The football world cup which takes place every four years brings a special momentum of business of these items all around the world.
Like other countries, demands for three items have grown in Bangladesh during the world cup.
Prior to every world cup football, sales of television go up as soccer fans love to enjoy the fullest of each and every match on screen.
TV manufacturers and sellers have come up with their latest technology television and offering special discounts to attract the customers.
Popular television companies — Walton, Rangs, Samsung, Transcom, LG and Singer — have come up with different offers, especially big discounts and gift items.
Manufacturers said a demand for televisions has already increased. They are ready to go on mega sales.To attract customers, Sony television is offering 16 percent discounts on every TV items and arranges a strike goal promotion offering fiver Toyota Cars on raffle draw.
Ashiqul Islam, head of sales of LG TV, said alongside the regular offer, they are giving away 300 televisions free on scratch card and nine Bangkok couple trip for the lucky winners.
“Our unique offer of replacement warranty is getting a good response from customers. A demand for smart televisions is higher this time,” he said.
Samsung is offering up to Tk 45,000 cash back on purchasing different models of Samsung TV.
Customers can also exchange any of their old TV sets and get up to Tk 35,000, depending on the condition of the TVs.
Singer Bangladesh will give away 1,000 Singer-branded LED or smart televisions for free in total.
Local television manufacturers are also giving big discount on their television items on ahead of the FIFA WC in Russia.
Fans crave for Jersey
Wholesales markets of sportswear such as Gulistan Somobay Market and Bongo Market are now busy selling wholesale jersey items which have already spread up every market across the country.
Talking to wholesalers, it was learnt that traders of these two markets are expecting a sales of around Tk 10 crore by only supplying jersey.
They said as the football tournament begins soon, now traders from all over the country are collecting their expected volume of sportswear.
There are several more wholesale markets in the capital are selling sportswear to retailers.
Visiting retail sports markets, it was seen that football lovers have already started collecting their favourite teams’ jerseys. Besides, jerseys are available on every market, including malls and footpaths.
Traders have put up for sale mostly jersey of Argentina, Brazil, Germany, France and Spain as most Bangladeshi football supporters belong to these countries.
The price of each jersey at retail market is Tk 500-700 while price of branded is a little bit higher than the average price. Besides, jerseys are also available on footpaths, local shops.
Amzad Hossain, proprietor of sports items shop at Bangabandhu Avenue, said that he has a collection of around 15 countries’ jerseys, flags at his shop with different quality.
“A demand for jerseys of Argentina and Brazil is higher. Till now, we have approximately sold 10,000 jerseys and are expected to sell up to 50,000 jerseys,” he said.
Shafiqur, a shop owner at the same market, said they are now delivering the pre-order of their customers from every parts of the country.
Flags, especially of Argentina and Brazil, take over rooftops and streets. Sewers are passing busy time to produce flags.
Bangladesh is traditionally cricket territory whose national team is ranked 197th among 202 countries. Soccer fans of the country go crazy during the tournament.
