The sixth and final round matches of the 6th Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) will start today at two separate venues in the country.

Defending champions BCB North Zone will lock horns with Prime Bank South Zone in their final encounter of the sixth BCL at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna. In the other match of the day, Islami Bank East Zone will take on Walton Central Zone at the Shahid Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi.

Bangladesh ODI side skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza is returning in the longer version cricket with South Zone today.

Mashrafe is going to play in a longer version game match after around a six-month break as he wants to keep himself always fit. He wants to give his best in the last match for South Zone.

“I played two matches in the last season’s National Cricket League (NCL) and will play one game in BCL. Basically I want to keep myself fit taking part in longer version,” the 34-year-old Narail Express told media.

“I always miss this format. There are a lot to learn for cricketers. It’s not possible to play long time in other formats of cricket without playing in Test cricket. I’ll play one game and will try to give my best,” added the most inspiring cricketer of Bangladesh.

This season, the holders North Zone are still dominating the points table.

After the 5th round matches of the four-day first class cricket, North Zone are holding the top spot securing 60 points with two wins and three draws.

South Zone followed the leaders in the second spot collecting 47 points with five draws from five matches in the league.

Prime Bank South Zone captain Nurul Hasan Sohan is hopeful to get a win against North Zone. He wishes his team will play a competitive game against them.

After their practice session on Monday, Sohan said: “We are at second spot in the points table. If we want to be the champions of Bangladesh Cricket League, we must win with full bonus points. We will try to play a competitive match against BCB North Zone. We will try our best to clinch the top.”
