Health Minister Mohammed Nasim on Monday asked BNP leaders not to spread lies about the treatment of their Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

“She is doing fine now. Do not lie about her treatment. She is a former Prime Minister, politician as well as woman. We are very much concerned about her treatment,” Nasim said.

He came up with statements at a press conference at his office at the secretariat in the city.

The minister said Khaleda is taking medicine regularly following the prescription of doctors.

Nasim, also a presidium member of the ruling Awami League, said the government must follow the jail code while providing treatment to her.

“We can assure that there will be no negligence in giving treatment to Begum Zia,” he said, adding that Zia herself gave thanks for providing better treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.

State Minister of the ministry Zahid Maleque, Secretary M Serajul Huq Khan (Health Services Division), and Director General of Health Services Professor Dr Abul Kalam Azad were present, among others.
